About Woodgate

Woodgate is a small beachside town (pop. 1,521) located in Queensland’s Wide Bay Region – about 4 and half hours drive up the Bruce Highway north of Brisbane and, about the same heading south from Rockhampton.

(We’re not Hervey Bay, the town, but our bay is called Hervey Bay. And no, there is no bridge. Our closest neighbours by road are Childers and Bundaberg.)

Surrounded by the Burrum Coast National Park, people love Woodgate for its laid back village feel. There’s no shopping centres, high rises or nightclubs. There is however, 16 stunning kilometres of sandy beach; a wide blue bay, rivers and creeks; and, pristine wetlands, forest and woodlands.

Visit for the day or stay for the weekend. There is a variety of holiday and camping accommodation to suit you. You’ll find everything you need here for a relaxing break – just bring a towel and a smile.

Check out our Things to Do section and FAQs page and, most importantly, help us preserve our beaches and wilderness and the wildlife its supports – our natural spaces are, afterall, why people love it here.

If you’re considering a seac-change, jump on to the Woodgate & District Residents Association website for important info about services and issues in town.
